Ever wondered what it’s like behind the scenes at Merlin Venues? We sat down and had a chat with Events Manager, Caitlin and Sales Manager, Faye, to get the scoop on holding events at one of our fabulous Merlin Venues.
Talk us through the process when someone makes an enquiry?
F: I always enjoy talking through event requirements on the phone as it really helps to understand a client’s requirements in more detail and guide them through all the options our venues have to offer. Once I have a good understanding of what they’re looking for I put together a full personalised proposal and always like to try and book site visit in.
What kind of events have you organised at the Merlin Venues?
C: It ranges from celebratory parties to corporate parties and private tours.
F: Anything and everything, from conferences to 13th Birthday parties, our spaces are so flexible, so we do a full range!
What’s been one of your favourite features of a past event?
C: I love the food stations we do, it’s always mouth-watering food, well presented and fitted to a theme. The New York hot dog cart we got for one event was perfectly recreated. The entertainment as well, we’ve had some really great dancers at parties, for example, the glitterball heads we had in SeaLife.
F: I always love when clients go for the food stations, especially the pasta one called the ’Italian Job’; big pans of pasta served with lots of toppings!
What tips would you give to someone organizing an event?
C: Plan well ahead. The less stressed you’ll be around the event, the more you’ll get to enjoy it!
F: Don’t panic! We are here to help you every step of the way and there are so many people behind the scenes involved in the process that we have everything covered for you, so sit back and relax.
We know you shouldn’t be biased, but if you had to choose what’s your favourite Merlin Venue to hold an event and why?
C: This is a difficult one because I genuinely like all of them equally. They all have something unique to offer that is incomparable.
F: I would say Riverside Rooms, very closely followed by Madame Tussauds London! Riverside Rooms has some of the best views you can get in London and well, Madame Tussauds London is a world-famous attraction with a lot of glamour and excitement!
