It’s hot and so is Christmas at our party venues!

As
the temperatures have been soaring over 35 degrees and we have had the driest
day in 267 years (have we really been measuring rain fall for that long?) It
seems the hot weather has brought out the Christmas cheer and enquires for
Christmas have been coming in steady here at Merlin Events. However, they are
not just any, it’s all about blood and gore. The clients want an anti-Christ
Christmas solution and the London Dungeon with impaled Santa and Rudolf trapped
in a bear trap seems to appeal.
I
think the traditional Christmas event has been evolving for many years and
whilst some companies love the mistletoe and wine and children singing
Christmas rhymes (mmm that could be a song). Most clients seem to want
something different; no turkey or if they do have turkey want a modern twist.
We will have Food by Dish (our resident caterer) sharing a few of their modern
takes on classics in the next few weeks.
With
religion now firmly seen as not appropriate for the Christmas/Holiday period as
London becomes
more multi-cultural I can only see clients looking for more fun and interesting
venues that have no connection with what is seen as a traditional
Christmas.
With
the Red Cross banning
decorations from charity shops I am sure Mr Cromwell would be very
happy. Do you think the Traditional
Christmas has had its day?
